Jack Clarke takes to Instagram after completing Tottenham Hotspur move

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Jack Clarke from Leeds United.

The 18-year-old talent has now joined the club and has signed a contract that will bind him to Spurs until 2023. However, he will now first return to Leeds in the Championship, where he will spend the 2019/20 season on loan.

Upon making the deal official, Clarke did not waste any time before posting a snap on

/Bzaj0IlhHAz/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram showing off his new kit.

While he was understandably eager to express his excitement for the future in north London, he also had a profound message for Leeds supporters as he underlined his desire to help the Whites win promotion next season.

Leeds’ stature and history combined with Marcelo Bielsa’s refreshing influence have facilitated the notion that the top-flight is, as Clarke says, where Leeds belong – one which was supported last season by Henry Winter, Chief Football Writer at The Times.

Shortly after he submitted the post some of his friends from his time at Leeds, including Izzy Brown and Tom Pearce, along with Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson, posted messages of support for the youngster.

Just last season, with Leeds, he made 25 appearances in all-competitions, scoring and assisting twice in the process and injecting sporadic bursts of excitement from the flank.

His impact under Bielsa’s watch was one of the major sub-plots at Elland Road last season, so it’s no surprise that he has garnered interest from a club of Tottenham’s prestige.

Still, this will be a big step up and another season in the Championship might do him the world of good before he enters the fray in the Premier League.

West Brom fans react to latest Gareth Barry development

[ad_pod ]

West Brom initially released five senior players from their books at the end of last season but Slaven Bilic could now hand a contract to one of those who walked through the exit door.

The player in question is Gareth Barry who according to Matt Wilson from Express & Star, could now earn himself a new deal at the Hawthorns.

The 38-year-old missed the final part of the season through injury but he has revealed in the past he’d like to play one more season.

However, certain Albion fans seemed to be annoyed by the fact he could be coming back to the club.

One fan responded by claiming they should just sell Sam Field if Barry was given a new contract whilst someone else called him past it.

A further supporter suggested it would be a backwards move, urging West Brom to have a clear out. Similarly, one individual said they needed to get rid of the deadwood.

Barry played 27 times in all competitions for the Baggies last term but had to undergo knee surgery in April after picking up an injury.

His last appearance was back in March but he could yet play for Albion again.

Here’s the best of the reaction.

Chicharito sets sights on Spain return with West Ham exit looming

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez wants to return to Spain this summer, per Marca.

What’s the word?

The Mexico international scored eight goals in 28 appearances in all competitions in 2018-19.

But Football FanCast understands that he has been placed up for sale this summer, with Manuel Pellegrini looking to conduct an overhaul of his forward options.

And Marca now claim that Chicharito, who spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Real Madrid, is now hoping to move back to La Liga.

Valencia, FFC understands, were interested in securing Hernandez’s signature in January but were unable to reach an agreement with the Hammers or the player.

Marca report that his wages, which total €4million-per-year, are a major stumbling block to any move, with most La Liga clubs unable to pay such a sum.

Another forcing a move

Hernandez will find first-team options even harder to come by next season.

The Irons are hopeful of signing a striker this summer, with Aleksandar Mitrovic at Fulham a major target. Salomon Rondon, the West Brom striker with a £16.5m release clause, has also been linked.

It is perhaps little surprise, then, that he is following in the footsteps of Marko Arnautovic by actively seeking a move; the Austria international tried to seal a move to China in January but ended up signing a new contract.

But he will have to ensure that he lowers his expectations for a move to come off.

Hernandez could not agree a move to Valencia in January despite discussing terms.

He needs to ensure that he adds a little humility to his demands for the transfer to happen.

Bring your boots on Saturday: Leeds fans want to see Edmondson in the first team

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter have been calling for Ryan Edmondson to be given a first team chance after the club’s Under 23s won the PDL national final against Birmingham City on penalties.

The striker has made one senior appearance so far this season, coming up against the Blues back in September with a 19-minute cameo appearance.

He has been starring for the Under 23s ever since and he has been instrumental to the youth team’s good season. The 17-year-old has netted 19 times for the team this season which has led many to wonder when he will become a regular.

With Patrick Bamford suspended and Kemar Roofe misfiring many have called for him to be brought in sooner rather than later.

The teenager may be a key man for Leeds in years to come, but certain sections of the fanbase want to see him fast-tracked into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…

Man Utd ready to cash in on major star with foreign move in offing

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United are ready to sell Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to oversee a major revamp of the playing squad at Old Trafford and the Belgium international could be a casualty.

What’s the word?

Solskjaer has used Lukaku sparingly since his appointment, allowing him to complete the 90 minutes in the Premier League just five times. He played just 17 minutes in midweek as United were beaten 3-0 by Barcelona.

Under the Norwegian’s management, Lukaku has scored six Premier League goals in 13 outings.

However, Marcus Rashford has emerged as United’s first-choice striker and the Telegraph claim that Lukaku will be allowed to leave if an acceptable bid is tabled in the summer.

Inter Milan, PSG and Bayern Munich are all touted as potential destinations, with United keen to recoup the £75million they paid to secure the Belgian’s signature from Everton.

The 25-year-old reportedly earns £255,000-per-week at United, meaning wages could be a stumbling block to any move.

Doesn’t fit

Lukaku was never right for United.

He is a battering ram of a striker but poor on the ball, his first touch is, at best, erratic and he does not suit the lightning-quick United side Solskjaer is trying to build.

He is young enough to have retained the majority of his value, however, and he has shown that he can be an elite forward if given the right service.

Lukaku would surely top goalscoring charts in France or Italy, while he would be a fine long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski at Bayern.

At £75m it is hardly a punt, but United would do well to encourage a club to make a bid this summer; they need a more mobile and reliable forward than the ex-Chelsea star.

Sheffield United: Easter fixtures should decide club’s fate this season

It has been a rough week for everyone involved with Sheffield United, hasn’t it?

After dropping points in the away fixture with Birmingham City last Wednesday, Chris Wilder’s Blades were just seconds away from securing a vital victory against Millwall at the weekend when disaster struck.

Following referee David Webb’s controversial decision not to give a foul for Ryan Leonard’s tackle on United forward David McGoldrick, the Lions recycled the play before Jake Cooper headed in a dramatic equaliser at Bramall Lane. As a result of this draw, the Yorkshire-based outfit handed over the initiative to promotion rivals Leeds United who took advantage of their misfortune by defeating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0, thus extending the gap between them and third-place to three points.

Although it would be naive to suggest that Saturday’s result has ended the Blades’ hopes of automatic promotion this season, it is clear that they simply cannot afford to slip-up in any of their final four fixtures. With their next two clashes occurring over the Easter weekend, Wilder’s side will need to show that they are capable of bouncing back from adversity at what is a pivotal period of the year in English football.

A convincing victory over Nottingham Forest on Good Friday would not only put United back on track but it could also pile the pressure on Leeds, who play later in the day. However, anything other than three points will provide the incentive needed for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to land a decisive blow in the race for the top-two ahead of Monday’s fixtures.

Whereas it is unlikely that promotion will be won by the Whites at the weekend, it can quite easily be lost by the Blades if they cannot show the resilience required to get over their recent mini-slump in form. If they fail to produce, United may have to settle for the play-offs, a competition which they have had a miserable relationship in recent times.

What do you think Blades fans? Can your side bounce back over the Easter weekend from their recent results? Or have you consigned yourselves to the lottery of the play-offs already? Let us know below…

Waste of time: West Ham fans react to latest Maxi Gomez claim

[ad_pod ]

According to football.london, via Claret & Hugh, West Ham United remain interested in a deal for Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.

The Hammers were strongly linked with the Uruguay international during the January transfer window, but the striker ultimately remained in Spain.

It is widely thought that Gomez will leave Celta this summer, though, and according to football.london, West Ham’s director of football Mario Husillos is working on a deal for the 22-year-old ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.

The London club’s fans have been on social media commenting on the rumours and it would be fair to say that not too many expect the deal to take place.

Gomez has scored 11 La Liga goals for Celta this term and is regarded as one of the best young forwards in world football.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with the South American this summer.

And a selection of the Twitter reaction from the West Ham fans can be seen below:

Opinion: Rangers should make Mooy swoop if they sell Morelos

[ad_pod ]

Aaron Mooy should leave Huddersfield if they get relegated, and a return to Scotland could be on the cards, claims Australian football pundit Simon Hill.

What’s the story?

Huddersfield sit 13 points off Premier League safety with just nine matches remaining, so we can probably expect to see more than a few Terriers jumping ship this summer.

As reported by Chronicle Live, Hill thinks his compatriot will definitely depart if they do go down, and he has picked out Rangers as a possible destination.

Speaking on a Fox Sports podcast, he said: “I just wonder whether a return to the Scottish Premier League (could be on the cards) with maybe a Rangers. Maybe go to one of the big two.

“Probably not Celtic because they’ve got Tommy Rogic but you never know. I just wonder whether (a move to Rangers) might be a possibility.”

The aforementioned report from the Chronicle reckons the Australian international midfielder would cost in the region of £20m, so assuming the Gers sell Alfredo Morelos for big money this summer, should they make a move for Mooy?

Arfield upgrade?

According to Sky Sports, former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wants to bring Morelos to Leicester, while Borussia Dortmund are one of “several” Bundesliga clubs showing interest.

The Daily Record expected the Gers to demand at least £20m for the Colombian’s services, and while they may not want to spend all of it on Mooy, the Huddersfield ace would be a big improvement on the man he would likely replace – Scott Arfield.

Mooy has played in the Scottish Premier League before, making 30 appearances for St. Mirren between 2010 and 2012, scoring twice.

The 28 year-old has struggled for form and fitness this season, but playing in one of the two superior teams in a weaker league should see him back to his best, and he could be the perfect link between midfield and attack for the Gers.

If Morelos does go, a direct replacement for the striker will of course be high up on the transfer list, but more goals from midfield would be a big boost for Steven Gerrard’s squad, perhaps even lessening the damage done by the Colombian’s departure, and that’s exactly what Mooy would bring.
