Just a couple of days ago, Xavi talked to a Catalan newspaper, Ara, and touched on the possibility of coaching Barcelona and Lionel Messi one day in the future.

Naturally, upon hearing this news, many Barcelona fans are desperate to see him return to the club as soon as possible.

Many of them called him the saviour of Barcelona because they see him as someone who can free them of Ernesto Valverde’s current grip.

They also wanted him to know that he is very welcome to coach Blaugrana whenever he wants.

It’s rare for one man to be so revered by two rival fanbases, but Clough was a special manager. He achieved great success with both clubs, and the tradition of playing for this trophy has been going for over a decade now.

Worrall’s Instagram post shows just how much his team means to him, and how much he understands the rivalry between the two clubs.

The centre-back captioned the photo: “For the fans – I love this club.”

It’s great to see so much passion from a young player, and while Forest may not go on to win the Carabao Cup, they’ll be more than happy with taking the Brian Clough Trophy back to the City Ground.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic shared his opinion on Ryan Sessegnon’s move to Tottenham.

Jokanovic was in charge of the Cottagers from 2015-2018, leading them to promotion back to the Premier League, and it was the Serbian who handed Sessegnon his senior debut for the Londoners.

The current Al-Gharafa boss spoke to The Mirror about the 19-year-old’s vast experience in the game despite his young age and also revealed how he thinks the teenager will fare at Spurs.

What did he say?

Jokanovic said: “Ryan is really competitive, I’d highlight his focus on the game and his hard work.

“Over a hundred games and over 30 in Premier League by the age of 19, you get the experience required to take this step. I believe he can perfectly play for Spurs and has still got a huge career ahead and room for improvement.”

Experience is a key factor

When you see that Spurs have spent £25m on a 19-year-old, the initial feeling is that the north Londoners are paying for his potential and what he could deliver in years to come.

However, one thing that must not be glossed over is his vast experience.

As Jokanovic mentions, the teenager has already played 120 first-team games for the Cottagers, including 35 in the Premier League before the age of 20.

Not to mention the fact that he has scored 25 goals and recorded 19 assists, and has also played well in numerous positions on the left flank.

Spurs are getting an enormous amount of potential for their money, but they are also getting a player who can make an immediate impact thanks to his professional application, and his mentality to succeed at whatever he does.

Sessegnon could cover for Danny Rose. He could also play on the left of midfield. Or he could also play on the left of the attack – wherever Mauricio Pochettino decides to play the England Under-21 international, he won’t let Spurs down.

As some of you may have heard, Liverpool’s first-team stars have been hard at work on international duty whilst others in the squad take a well deserved holiday.

After a gruelling 97-point Premier League campaign and a successful Champions League expedition last term, the likes of Joel Matip and Fabinho got to jet off and chill out.

Whilst they and others were letting their hair down, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker embarked on international tournaments – the latter pair went away and won the Copa America, whilst Salah and Mane took part in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Out of all of them, it was Mane who finished latest after making the AFCON final with Senegal, which they unfortunately lost to Algeria.

Due to his exploits, the former Southampton man will miss the Community Shield game against Manchester City, and will return to the club just four days before the opening game against Norwich.

Embarking on a season without the Premier League Golden Boot winner may worry some Liverpool fans, and quite understandably – however, they don’t need to worry thanks to Rhian Brewster’s excellent pre-season form.

The teenager has had an enormous amount of trust placed in him by Jurgen Klopp, and has begun to repay that trust with four goals and an assist in pre-season so far.

Brewster’s goals were all impressive, and showed his wide array of striking skills ranging from instinctive follow-ups, confidently struck penalties and sharp aerial instincts.

If he had just been signed for £30m and was performing like this, you can only imagine the hype surrounding his form, so it is only fair that we praise Brewster for his efforts substantially.

It may only be pre-season, but the 19-year-old is in a purple patch and has the wind in his sails after Klopp breathed life into them.

From what we’ve seen, he can capably stand in for Mane for a few early season games at least, and potentially be a key figure alongside the Senegalese forward later on once he regains his fitness.

Liverpool needn’t worry about being without their 22-goal attacker with Brewster around.

وواصل جاتوزو: “كتب بيرلو في كتابه عن مقالبه معي، أعتقد أنني وجهت له صفعات على رأسه أكثر مما فعل والده! كنا مثل بود سبنسر وتيرينس هيل (ممثلان)، اعتدنا التحدث أكثر بعد المباريات، حتى إنه كان مزعجًا للغاية، لكن أعتقد أنه مشغول الآن”.

واستطرد جاتوزو: “لدينا رؤية مماثلة لكرة القدم، كلانا نحب أن نلعب من الخلف ونبحث عن شيء جديد، وهو ما رأيناه لسنوات تفعله الفرق الإسبانية”.

وأكد: “لدي بعض الأفكار، لكن الشيء المهم هو احترام يوفنتوس وعدم الوقوع في فخ فكرة أن يوفنتوس في أزمة، نادرًا ما يخسرون مواجهتين على التوالي، لذلك يتعين علينا تقديم أداء رائع، والتركيز طوال الوقت وإضافة تركيز أكثر من المعتاد، اليوفي فريق رائع ويجب ألا نرتكب خطأ الاعتقاد بأنهم في ورطة”.

وعن انتقادات جماهير نابولي لتعيين باولو فاليري حكمًا للمباراة، أردف جاتوزو: “لا يمكننا التفكير في أي شيء سيء، إنه محترف يعرف ما يفعله، وهو حكم دولي لديه الكثير من الخبرة ونحن نحترمه، إذا لم أكن مخطئًا، فقد فاز نابولي أيضًا بآخر كأس سوبر له وكان فاليري الحكم”.

هذه هي المرة الأولى التي يتواجه فيها يوفنتوس ونابولي منذ مباراة 4 أكتوبر التي ألغيت في تورينو، والتي شهدت في البداية خسارة بارتينوبي بهزيمة تلقائية 3-0، وتم تغيير ذلك عند الاستئناف ويجب الآن إعادة اللعبة بتاريخ لم يتم تأكيده بعد.

وعلّق جاتوزو: “أظهرنا حسن النية، حيث تم حظرنا من قبل هيئة الصحة المحلية عندما كنا في حافلة الفريق في المطار، وكنّا على استعداد للذهاب وقيل الكثير من الأحاديث حول هذا الأمر، لكن أنا والفريق نكن احترامًا كبيرًا ليوفنتوس، ونترك الحديث للآخرين”.

يرى طارق مصطفى المدرب العام بالجهاز الفني لمنتخب مصر الأول أن جايمي باتشيكو المدير الفني لفريق نادي الزمالك سيرحل خلال الفترة الحالية.

وقال لاعب الزمالك الأسبق: “أكبر خسارة للزمالك هذا الموسم رحيل مجلس إدارة النادي، حيث أن مرتضى منصور والمجلس بالكامل كانوا يقومون بدور كبير جدًا، ويكفي ما شاهدناه في مباراة طلائع الجيش، ناحية بدنية ونفسية سيئة”.

وأضاف: “الصفقة الأكثر تأثيرًا في الموسم المقبل ستكون رمضان صبحي مع بيراميدز، وشاهدت بدر بانون وسيكون إضافة للنادي الأهلي، واتمنى احتراف محمد الشناوي”.

وواصل: “هناك لاعبين في الزمالك يجلبون أموالًا كثيرة من وجهة نظري، إذا كانت القلعة البيضاء لا يوجد فيها أموال، فبيع مصطفى محمد سيجلب 150 أو 200 مليون جنيه، والفريق الأبيض كبير ولا يقف على لاعب، بجانب أن رغبة مصطفى الاحتراف الأوروبي”.

وتابع: “بعد خروج مصطفى محمد للاحتراف يمكنك التجديد لـ فرجاني ساسي وأشرف بن شرقي ويوسف أوباما والحفاظ على قوام الفريق، بجانب التعاقد مع مهاجم النجم الساحلي كريم العريبي، وهو من أفضل المهاجمين المتواجدين في شمال إفريقيا حاليًا”.

وأتم: “أحمد الشيخ وصالح جمعة لن يكونا إضافة للزمالك، ولو هذا قراري لن أضم أي لاعب منهما للزمالك، ويحتاج إلى بن شرقي وساسي اللاعبين التونسيين لهم شخصية في الملعب”.

وعن أزمة شارة قيادة منتخب مصر، أوضح طارق مصطفى: “الأزمة انتهت ونتعامل بالأقدمية، بدليل أنه عندما غاب أحمد فتحي ارتدى الشارة عبد الله السعيد، وعودة فتحي للمنتخب أمر وارد، هو لاعب كبير وخبرة وأتمنى له الشفاء من فيروس كورونا”.

Rangers are keen on signing Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson and Steven Gerrard has held personal talks with the player, according to Football Insider.

What’s the story?

It’s no secret that the Gers will be on the hunt for defensive reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window with Joe Worrall heading back to parent club Nottingham Forest and Gareth MacAuley set to exit Ibrox after the expiration of his contract.

Gerrard badly needs competition for Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic and this latest report suggests he’s closing in on sealing the deal for Edmundson.

The website reckon the Ibrox boss has held face-to-face talks with the 21-year-old in an attempt to convince him his future lies in Glasgow rather than a lower league team down south.

The kind of signing Rangers need?

Well the jury is out on that one and only people who watch Oldham regularly will know the answer.

On the face of it, the potential move isn’t the most inspiring for Gers fans, especially when they consider the season that Joe Worrall has had at Ibrox.

Worrall is just a few months older than Edmundson and has played more games at a higher level than the Oldham man, spending two seasons in the English Championship with Nottingham Forest before making the switch to Rangers.

Edmundson has only really been a regular this season down in League Two.

If the reported target does not offer the Gers squad more quality than Worrall, who hasn’t been the most popular player this season by any means, then frankly there isn’t much point to his signing.

Ibrox supporters will be hoping the scouts have found a hidden gem.

It would be fair to say that Liverpool fans are not interested in their club making a summer swoop for Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale.

The Reds have not actually been linked with the Wales international, who did not feature in Real Madrid’s final three games of the 2018-19 campaign.

However, if they were, it seems that the majority of Liverpool supporters would not want their club to make a bid to land the 29-year-old.

Bale only scored eight La Liga goals for Los Blancos during the 2018-19 campaign.

The attacker still has three years left to run on his contract at the Bernabeu, though, and will surely not walk away from such a lucrative deal.

It would not be a surprise if the Welshman did ultimately end up back in the Premier League, but the Liverpool fans are simply not interested in a swoop.

Southampton take on Wolves this weekend and will be hoping to propel themselves further away from the drop zone after an ultimately disappointing loss to Liverpool at St Mary’s Stadium last time out.

The Saints could and should have gone two up against the Reds but Shane Long was unable to connect with the ball after he was presented with a golden opportunity to net his second of the game. The Irishman worked his socks off, as usual, but didn’t have the finishing touch, as usual. Someone who does though is 22-year-old Che Adams: one name on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s list.

What’s the word?

Well, the man himself had this to say regarding the upcoming summer transfer window:

“I don’t want to discuss any personality. We were linked with [Adams] in the winter transfer period also.

“We have eyes on a few young players who fit in our shape and philosophy and we are mainly looking for younger players. First, we have to be safe.

“Yes (Adams is on our list of potential targets).”

The perfect fit?

The Birmingham striker has been in sensational form this campaign, chalking up 22 goals and four assists in 40 league appearances – an output which has surely landed him on a number of clubs’ radars, Southampton included.

With pace to burn and a surprising amount of strength, the bullish forward seems the perfect man to lead the Saints line for the next decade. Like Long, he will run himself into the ground putting defenders under pressure – something Hasenhuttl demands of all his players – and isn’t afraid to get stuck in either. What he does have on the Southampton number 7 though, is a reliable end product when it matters.
